Our journey with Plugged-In

Discover the inspiration behind our podcast, meet the voice guiding you through the fascinating world of US and UK sports culture, and find out what exciting insights await you.

The inspiration behind Plugged-In

Plugged In was inspired by noticing how differently people in the US and the UK experience sport, even when they’re just as passionate. Growing up around sport, it became obvious that fans on each side of the Atlantic think about loyalty, players, and competition in completely different ways. In the US, there’s a strong focus on star players and entertainment, while in the UK, it’s more about deep-rooted loyalty to clubs and tradition.

The idea for the podcast came from wanting to explore those differences in a real, honest way — not just from a surface level, but by breaking down the culture behind it. Plugged In is about connecting those perspectives, sparking debate, and giving listeners a new way to look at the sports they already love.

Meet your host

As the host of  Plugged In, I bring a genuine passion for sport and a deep interest in how culture shapes the way fans experience it. Having been closely involved in sport, I’ve seen firsthand how different environments influence everything — from loyalty and identity to how games are watched, discussed, and valued. That perspective is what drives the podcast.

What makes me the right person to guide this journey is the ability to look at both sides objectively — understanding the energy and entertainment of US sports, while also appreciating the tradition and loyalty that define UK sport. Plugged In isn’t just about opinions — it’s about breaking things down, asking the right questions, and giving listeners a fresh perspective on the sports they already love.

What you will gain from Plugged-In
